Using Online Video for Teaching
This seminar will focus on the use of online video for teaching and learning. In recent years there has been a boom in the development and publication of online video. This phenomenon has significantly enhanced the capacity to produce, use, and distribute video for educational purposes. In this seminar you will learn about free online video applications, such as YouTube, Vimeo, and Google Video, as well as how to host, share, or reference Web-based video in your course Web sites or classrooms. This session will also demonstrate VITAL (Video Interactions for Teaching and Learning), a Web-based video analysis system that helps students develop skills of observation, interpretation, and critical thinking. This seminar is conducted by the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning and is recommended for beginners.

This workshop is for Wikispaces users who want to learn about the advanced features of Wikispaces, as well as some time-saving tips for creating and navigating a course Wikispace. This hands-on workshop will discuss the use of widgets and demonstrate how tags can be used to improve wiki organization and navigation. This workshop is conducted by the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning and is recommended for advanced Wikispaces users.

This seminar is an introduction to iTunes U at Columbia. iTunes U is an online environment that delivers Columbia-produced educational content to students, faculty, and the public through Apple's popular iTunes desktop media player. During this seminar, faculty and instructors will learn how to use iTunes U effectively and manage content within the system. Questions about creating new podcasts, incorporating podcasts in teaching, and setting iTunes U access levels to "Columbia-only" or "public" will also be addressed. This seminar is conducted by the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning.
