This seminar for Columbia University faculty and instructors will focus on the use of online video for teaching and learning. In recent years there has been a boom in the development and publication of online video. This phenomenon has significantly enhanced the capacity to produce, use, and distribute video for educational purposes. In this seminar you will learn about free online video applications, such as YouTube, Vimeo, and Google Video, as well as how to host, share, or reference Web-based video in your course Web sites or classrooms. This session will also demonstrate VITAL (Video Interactions for Teaching and Learning), a Web-based video analysis system that helps students develop skills of observation, interpretation, and critical thinking. This seminar is conducted by the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning and is recommended for beginners.
