Home > News & Updates > New Technologies Announced at Fall Premiere 2008

September 18, 2008. CCNMTL rolled out the latest teaching technologies at the Fall Premiere, an annual event for faculty to learn about new services and technologies available to them for the academic year. CCNMTL staff unveiled the University's new podcasting platform, iTunes U at Columbia, and discussed how podcasting can be used as an educational tool. A course management site called Sakai was also demonstrated. This system, set to replace CourseWorks in fall 2009, offers customizable, Web 2.0 features and is currently being piloted by some Columbia faculty members. Lastly, a new resource site for faculty called EnhancED was presented. EnhancED is a one-stop resource for the latest articles, tips, and tools to improve the use of technology in teaching. The Fall Premiere was followed by a lively question and answer session.
