The Chad-Cameroon Oil Development and Pipeline Project is a $3.7 billion private sector development project comprising some 300 oil wells, which are expected to extract approximately one billion barrels of oil over twenty-five years. The project is the largest private sector investment in sub-Saharan Africa. Led by Exxon-Mobil, the project has received financing from the World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC). The pipeline is known as one of the most controversial World Bank Group projects in history.
