Commencement of the 249th Academic Year, May 2003

The Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning (CCNMTL) proudly broadcasts Columbia University Commencement and congratulates all of the graduates of the 249th Academic Year.

Please select from the table below to tune in to the broadcast. All broadcast will also be available after the events for on-demand viewing. Please insure that your computer has the appropriate media players and network bandwidth to receive the broadcast. For more information, please send an e-mail message to ccnmtl@columbia.edu.

You now have the option to download a RealMedia file of the Commencement Exercises. Follow these simple instruction to download them to your computer:

  • For Windows users: Right click on 'File' and select 'Save Target As'. Choose the directory where you would like to store the file and click 'Save'.

  • For Mac Users: Click on 'File' while also depressing the Control button. Select 'Download Link to Disk' ('Save Link Target As' for Mozilla browsers) and choose the directory where you would like to store the file.

Please keep in mind that these are large files and will occupy a lot of space on your hard drive. We are making a limited number of VHS tapes of the raw footage from Commencement/Class Day for graduates preferring a higher quality version. The tapes can be picked up in 204 Butler for a processing fee of $20 (cash only). Call the office at 212-854-9058 for further information.

Which broadcast to choose from?:
If you are using 56K modem or slower connection, please choose RealMedia Streaming.
If you are using broadband connection (LAN, T1, DSL/Cable Modem), you can select any of the broadcast medium.
For Streaming Broadcast:
If you select to view the broadcast via Real or Quicktime streaming, you will need the appropriate plugins installed in your machine.

Download a free version of QuickTime if you do not have it installed. If your browser does not properly pass the URL to Quicktime, copy and paste link directly to the QuickTime player. MPEG streams require a high-bandwidth connection that is multicast enabled.
