Tracey Shelton, an Australian-born journalist, videographer and photographer, started her journalism career as a freelancer in 2005. In 2009, she moved to Iraq to cover the story post-Saddam Hussein. Eighteen months later, she transferred to Libya, and won a 2012 Oveseas Press Club award for, among other pieces, her coverage of ruler Moammar Gaddafi's capture and death. In mid-2012, she started to write about Syria, by then in the throes of a civil war, for GlobalPost . Among others, she has also written for the Sydney (Australia) Morning Herald , and The National (Abu Dhabi).
