Biography: Joe Demma

Joe Demma has been the investigations editor of the Sun-Sentinel since October 2004. He began his career at Newsday in 1965, where he participated in three Pulitzer Prize winning projects during more than three decades. His career has included managing editor of the Modesto Bee and city editor of the Sacramento Bee . In 1998 and 1999, he taught news editing at the University of Nevada’s Reynolds School of Journalism. Since joining the Sun-Sentinel , his team has won two APME awards—one for public service and one for First Amendment—the IRE Award, and the Roy W. Howard Award for Public Service from the Scripps found. The team was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative reporting in 2006.
