Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888-1975) was the second president of India (1962-7) and a prolific writer who made Hinduism accessible to the West. The quotation is part of a lecture Radhikrishnan delivered in Upton College, which presented Hinduism as an evolving historical movement and called for India's independence from colonial rule.
