Kabir (late 14th to early 15th c.?) was a poet and a religious reformer of sorts, emphasizing a form of devotionalism [bhakti], that was open to the lowly as well as the high, as the Imperial Gazetteer makes clear. The Imperial Gazetteer also discusses the sect that arose to follow his teachings. Here are some of his poems in a classic translation by Rabindranath Tagore (1915).
