Dr. Ambedkar makes only this brief mention of the early growth of Islam, but in these two maps you can see how rapid it was. The Prophet Muhammad died in 632 CE. Here's a regional map of the Middle East around 661, and then you can see how much expansion had taken place in the Caliphate by 750.
