Now, the state of Florida does not run its lottery for entertainment -- it does it to raise money (a tactic on which, with great effort, I will refrain from commenting). Typically state lotteries pay out roughly half their income. Assuming the bet is $1 (I will confess here to never having played any lottery games), nearly $2 million tickets must have been sold.
