Video Interactions for Teaching and Learning (VITAL) is a Web-based application developed by the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning, in conjunction with Dr. Herbert Ginsburg, Jacob H. Schiff Foundations Professor of Psychology and Education at Teachers College. The project aims to provide students with unique digital tools for viewing, manipulating and communicating video materials. Since its development, VITAL has been adapted for use by other schools and departments, including courses at the Columbia University School of Social Work, taught by Professors Tazuko Shibusawa and Susan Oppenheim.
VITAL is being used in Professor Ginsburg’s Spring 2004 course, “The Development of Mathematical Thinking” and Professors Shibusawa and Oppenheim’s “Clinical Practice with Couples.” The VITAL application is currently accessible only to students and instructors registered for these courses. If you are having difficulties accessing this application, please contact ccnmtl-vital@columbia.edu.
