New Media in Education 2006: A Progress Report

Since 1999, the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning has partnered with faculty in the design, development, and assessment of projects that enhance the Columbia educational experience.

The goal of our third New Media in Education Conference is to highlight some of the innovations that have evolved since we began our work seven years ago. Our commitment to keeping pace with current developments while maintaining a reflective context has allowed the Columbia community to benefit from newly emerging pedagogical best practices.

Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to learn about many of our projects. We have gathered some of our faculty partners to share their experiences with you in four panels that will take place in the Faculty Room in Low Library. We will also demonstrate a number of collaborative and community-oriented technologies that can be useful for classroom situations.

We invite all members of the community to attend this free conference. We will highlight the instructor's perspective, but librarians, information technology staff, and administrators supporting courses are welcome to participate. Guests from outside Columbia should contact Kendra Crook (krc13@columbia.edu) to request an invitation and to receive complete registration details.

Please take a moment to register online, so that all your materials will be ready when you arrive.

LOCATION

The conference will take place in Low Memorial Library, located on 116th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.
