John Arwood had worked in daily newspapers for nearly 30 years as a reporter and editor. Since joining the Charlotte Observer in 1993, he served in a variety of roles, including regional copy desk chief, South Carolina bureau chief, public safety editor, assistant metro editor, and Page One editor.
