The Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning, the Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) Office of Faculty Professional Development, and the Virginia Apgar Academy of Medical Educators are co-sponsoring the 5th Annual Summer Institute for Teaching and Learning. The Summer Institute is a day-long, invitational workshop devoted to exploring effective teaching and learning strategies in health sciences education.

This year's Summer Institute will be held on Thursday, July 26 from 8:30am to 4:00pm at Butler Library on the Columbia Morningside Campus.

The Summer Institute is designed to help junior faculty and senior faculty taking on a new teaching role develop their skills as educators, learn about interactive teaching techniques, and collaborate with other faculty across the campus. Sessions will be facilitated by members of CUMC’s teaching community and educational technologists from CCNMTL.

Current CUMC faculty members are encouraged to nominate new teaching faculty to apply for free admission to the Summer Institute by submitting an online application. The application deadline is July 6, 2012. Due to space and session restrictions, the Summer Institute is limited to 30 fellows.
