Biography: Rob Schmitz
Rob Schmitz became the China correspondent for Marketplace in 2010. Before that, he was Los Angeles bureau chief for The California Report, a program on San Francisco-based public radio station KQED. His first stint in China was as a teacher in the Peace Corps in Sichuan Province. He remained there after his two-year service and worked as a freelance print and video journalist. He graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
