Updates Coming to Columbia Classrooms
The Columbia Spectator reports that CUIT will add twenty new e-rooms to its roster by Fall 2013. This will bring the total to 115 e-rooms, which means that most registrar-hosted classrooms at Columbia will be technology-enabled. This is good news to CCNMTL, which works with faculty to develop projects that leverage CUIT's infrastructure in the classroom.
Traditionally e-rooms have included a "projector, a presentation screen, an audio system, a switchboard to control imaging sources, a computer, a DVD player, a podium, cables for connecting a laptop, and, if necessary, microphones." At this time it is not clear if the additional rooms and upgrades will include infrastructure for clickers, "bonjour" wireless networks that facilitate iOS-based screen sharing, or lecture-capture equipment.
