The 7th annual Summer Institute for Teaching and Learning is a day-long workshop devoted to exploring effective teaching and learning strategies in health sciences education. This event is designed for junior faculty or senior faculty who recently taken on a new teaching role to develop their skills as educators, to learn about interactive teaching techniques, and to collaborate with other faculty across the campus. Sessions will be facilitated by members of CUMC’s teaching community and educational technologists from CCNMTL.
This year's Summer Institute will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 8:00am to 5:00pm in 522/523 Butler Library on the Columbia Morningside Campus.
The Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning, the Anna Maxwell Teaching Academy, the Diamond Teaching Academy, the Mailman School of Public Health Teaching Academy, the Office of Academic Affairs at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, and the Virginia Apgar Academy of Medical Educators are co-sponsoring the event.
This year, Summer Institute fellows will have the opportunity to continue their development as educators by participating in a new mentorship program. Interested fellows will be paired with a mentor from their school or program. This exciting program will be lead by Deborah Cabaniss, Director of the Virginia Apgar Academy of Medical Educators Columbia University's College of Physicians & Surgeons.
