This Friday, April 25, seven faculty members from Columbia University and affiliates will share their experiences using educational technology in Spring 2014 classes. Their presentations will be part of the rewirED Faculty Showcase, an event that celebrates the work of instructors who have participated in the seminar series sponsored by the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning on the intersection of technology and teaching. The event will take place in Butler Library, Room 523 12:00-2:00 PM.
Ann McCann Oakley, assistant dean at the Columbia University School of Social Work, said that the rewirED Faculty Showcase is “one of the most stimulating, exciting, and enjoyable instructional technology events that Columbia offers."
The faculty presenters are Emma Crandall (University Writing), Diane Dittrick (Environmental Science, Barnard College), Susan Jang (Teachers College), Reyes Llopis-Garcia (Latin American and Iberian Cultures), Tamarah Moss-Knight (School of Social Work), Hiie Saumaa (English and Comparative Literature), Selby Schwartz (University Writing). In a series of lightening talks, each presenter will explore innovative uses of technologies including Courseworks, Edblogs, Google Drive, Mediathread, SurveyMonkey, TedEd, Twitter, Voicethread, Wikischolars, and Wikispaces.
"The rewirED Faculty Showcase is yet another way for the Center to show our appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our faculty partners,” said Adrienne Garber, a CCNMTL educational technologist who is one of the minds behind rewirED. “The creativity and innovation they exhibited this semester through the rewirED series was truly inspiring, and we want to share their successes with the rest of our Columbia community."
Refreshments will be served. Please register.
