It's not too late to join Barnard College Professor Perry Mehrling for Part 2 of his Economics of Money and Banking course. Part 1 explored the economics of payment systems and money markets, while Part 2, which started on July 8th, will explore connections with foreign exchange and capital markets.
Last fall, Lifehacker.com listed the course as one of the best free online classes available on the web.
Princeton University Press is offering Coursera students free online access to Mehrling’s book The New Lombard Street, How the Fed Became the Dealer of Last Resort as well as a specially priced print edition. The Institute for New Economic Thinking supported Professor Mehrling's course production. Below is their short introductory video.
Sign up for the course then set up or join a NYC Coursera Community Meetup to discuss the course with fellow New Yorkers.
