Dr. Linda Fried was founding director of the Johns Hopkins Center on Aging and Health (COAH) in 1998, and prior to that, vice chair in the Department of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Fried co-designed and co-founded Experience Corps with Mark Freedman, launching demonstration projects in five cities in 1995. She went on to introduce the program to Baltimore in 1998. She was the principal investigator of Baltimore Experience Corps when, in 2004 and 2005, COAH applied for grants from the National Institutes of Health to conduct a five-year randomized control trial.
