Learning Exercise: Understanding your Personality Profile
The purpose of this exercise is not to diagnosis or stereotype, but to give
you insight into how personality traits affect interactions with others, especially
in settings involving teamwork. There is no best personality type; each one
has strengths and weakness. Understanding your own personality type and that
of others may help make teamwork run more smoothly and effectively. As a dentist
you may be in the situation of setting up a new dental practice. Recognizing
you strengths and weaknesses will be important in establishing an effective
team for your office. These skills carry over to healthcare teams.
- Complete the personality profile test at Personal
Style Inventory (No this do not access your clothes or interior design
style). You can take an online version or print out the manual
pdf version. If you use the online version you should read through the
pdf version for more background on the various personal style types.
- After determining your profile or type, you will create a page in the wiki
and enter a short reflection for the following topics:
- How well do the results of the profile 'fit' you?
- What are your type's strengths and weaknesses?
- How do you think your type's strengths and weakness might enhance or impede
teamwork?
