Back in July 2009, we wrote about the Columbia subscription for lynda.com. Many in the Columbia community have taken advantage of their excellent video tutorials. Unfortunately, these were not accessible from the iPhone app using the Columbia subscription, till now. The latest version (1.2.0, released November 1, 2010) now includes support for Columbia's authentication system. Here's how to use it:

• Start the lynda.com app on the iPhone or iPod touch
• Select the login button on the start up screen
• Scroll down to the web portal access button and select it
• On the "Web Portal Access" page, enter: columbia.edu
• Turn on the "Remember this URL" toggle to save you from entering again
• Enter your UNI and password on the Columbia WIND authentication page
• Start learning...

IPad users can make use of this app, but using the regular lynda.com site via Safari is a better option.
