Dr. Joseph Graziano

Dr. Joseph Graziano was a pharmacologist and professor of environmental health sciences. He taught at Columbias Mailman School of Public Health and at its College of Physicians and Surgeons. He specialized in environmental exposure to metals. Early in his career, he developed a drug to treat lead poisoning in children. A project in the 1980s-90s in the former Yugoslavia studied the long-term health effects of environmental exposure to lead. Graziano was director of Columbia's Superfund Basic Research Program, entitled "Health Effects and Geochemistry of Arsenic and Lead."
