IDEO, the design consultancy, is promoting debate on the future of the book on its website and on the Big Conversations Facebook site.

The company just produced a video offering three concepts for e-book designs called Nelson, Coupland and Alice. Nelson allows a close reading experience that features information layers of analysis and debate about the book's topic drawn from the web. Coupland helps you keep up with topics in your field by sharing books and creating libraries for your organization. Alice provides an interactive, nonlinear reading experience that uses geolocation, messages from characters, backstories, new chapters and contributions from readers to create an immersive experience.
