Home > News & Updates > Faster and More Secure Network in the Faculty Support Lab

Faculty Support Lab January 26, 2009. The Faculty Support Lab in 204 Butler Library underwent a network upgrade last week, providing Columbia faculty with improved reliability, security, and performance of lab computer stations and enhanced connectivity for wireless access points. The upgrade bumped the network connections from 100Mb/s to 1Gb/s. The upgrade, which covered a number of locations on the second floor of Butler, was conducted by Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT), and is part of an initiative to improve network electronics on the Morningside campus.

CCNMTL's Faculty Support Lab is equipped with a SmartBoard and 11 computer stations with a wide range of software applications, as well as scanners and audio/video equipment. The Lab is open Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm, and an educational technologist is always available for individual consultations. Learn more about the Lab here.
