Debbie Van Tassel assumed her role as the Plain Dealer ’s assistant managing editor, features, in 2006, after serving as the newspaper’s business editor since 1999. She has also worked as an editor at newspapers in Akron, Seattle, and Philadelphia. Her career in newspapers began while she was a freshman at Seton Hall University, when she became a reporter for the former News Tribune in Woodbridge, N.J.
