Overview of the Portfolio Process
A portfolio is a collection of material hat provides evidence of your
ability to perform specific tasks in realistic, unaided situations representative of
what you will perform at the completion of the AEGD program. The portfolio refers
to a loosely bound document in which you will collect and organize
for presentation various pieces of evidence that you can use to demonstrate the required program
competencies and proficiencies. This evidence may consist of checklists, case
documentations, write-ups of interviews, papers, letters and other material.
It is your responsibility to provide two copies of your portfolio. One copy of your portfolio
will be kept as a part of the program's outcomes assessment documentation.
The other copywill be used and may be used in part or whole when you are applying for employment, other academic programs, for hospital privileges, etc.
Standards and Logistics
- The portfolio must be completed and approved by the program
director in order for you to receive a certificate of completion from the AEGD program.
- In case of a dispute you may ask to meet with the program director's superior to discuss the program director's
decision.
- You will get approval for methodology and projects and gather evidence
throughout the program as described above.
- At the three-quarter point in the program you will be asked to submit your preliminary portfolio.
- One month before the end of the program, residents will submit the completed
portfolio for evaluation. The program director may accept it as complete,
or request additional evidence, or other changes in the portfolio.
- Two weeks prior to the end of the program the program director will make
the final decision about granting a certificate of completion from the program.
