Biography: WafaaEl-Sadr

Dr. Wafaa El-Sadr was university professor of epidemiology and medicine at Columbia University. She was director of ICAP, a global center for the treatment and prevention of HIV-AIDS based at Columbias Mailman School of Public Health. She was also chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Harlem Hospital Center in New York City. She became a member of the Institute of Medicine in 2009 and was a MacArthur Foundation Fellow in 2008. El-Sadr held a masters of public administration from Harvard University and a masters of public health from Columbia. She earned her medical degree at Cairo University in 1974.
