NMC Horizon Report 2009
The annual Horizon Report seeks to identify emerging technologies likely to have a large impact on research and teaching and learning. The report is produced as a collaboration between the New Media Consortium and EDUCAUSE.
The 2009 report identifies six emerging technologies likely to enter the mainstream in learning-focused organizations within one to five years. This year's list includes Mobiles, Cloud Computing, Geo-Everything, the Personal Web, Semantic-Aware Applications, and Smart Objects. The report also identifies five key trends and five critical challenges affecting teaching and learning practices.
The 30-page report is worthwhile reading for anyone interested in technology and education. In the Mobiles section on page 10, CCNMTL's Mapping the African American Past is a featured project.
