Susanne Rust is the Journal Sentinel s science reporter. Rust officially joined the paper in 2002, following a summer fellowship awarded by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. During her time with the paper, Rust covered a wide range of science-related issues, including eco-friendly agriculture in Costa Rica, the politics of stem-cell research, and potential dangers of food sweeteners. Prior to journalism, Rust had been a doctoral candidate in biological anthropology at the University of Wisconsin where she studied primate communication, evolution, and ecology. She earned her B.S. in anthropology at Barnard College and her M.S. in physical anthropology from UW-Madison.
